Torquay is the birthplace of the crime writer Agatha Christie and the whole area runs a packed programme of events and festivals in celebration of this fact. Along with the sandy beach, promenade and Princess Pier, which offers stunning views over the bay, Torquay has much to offer. A picturesque harbour, theatre, great shopping and delightful palm tree lined promenades complete the picture.

Along the coast at Paignton, with its award-winning sandy beach, green parkland and iconic pier is another perfect family holiday location. Great attractions nearby include the Paignton to Dartmouth Steam Train, Quaywest Splash Down and Paignton Zoo.

Brixham is a charming hilly town, with narrow streets and alleys built around the colourful harbour, which is full of history. A replica of Sir Francis Drake's ship the Golden Hind is a popular focus point in the harbour and, as one of the busiest UK fishing ports, you couldn't find a better place to sample the delights from the sea in numerous restaurants and cafes.

Close by is the world famous Cockington village which is full of thatched cottages and offers artists the perfect setting to display their crafts in numerous studios.

Babbacombe boasts views out to sea, which inspired the name 'English Riviera', and is a haven of calm for those wishing to escape the hustle and bustle of Torquay.
