Who are we?

Devon Farms & Country Stays is a not-for-profit co-operative of working family farms providing quality farm and country accommodation across Devon. Established in 1989 it is entirely run, managed and marketed by its members for its members. 

Devon Farms & Country Stays was established by a group of working farmer’s wives to help promote their farm accommodation. In 1989 Devon County Council brought together a number of small regional groups to produce one marketing group and brochure, which was launched at the Food and Farming Festival at Hyde Park, London.

Who we welcome?

Independent members/families, whom wish to promote their quality farm and country accommodation in Devon, with its own website (no agencies). The accommodation can range from bed and breakfast, self-catering, bunk houses, camping and glamping and provides a source of income. The accommodation must be of an appropriate quality and on land which is used for the business of agriculture, horticulture, forestry and or related business. 

Other rural accommodation, which upholds the principles and ethos of Devon Farms, will be considered by the committee on application.

Although grading by an external body is not necessary, you will be visited by a member of the Devon Farms team and evidence of adherence to relevant trading standards, insurance and legal legislation will be required.

Member owned & lead
Our co-operative has no shareholders. Members working for the benefit of its members.

When can I join and how much?

The membership year runs from April - April but you can join Devon Farms at any time of the year (subject to meeting the joining criteria) and your membership will be prorated accordingly.

2023/2024 memberships rates are:

£315 for your first self-catering cottage then £31 for any additional cottage

£200 for your first 3 B&B rooms then £31 for any additional room

There are discounts available if you run both a self-catering and Bed and Breakfast business from the same location.
