Woolacombe also holds the ‘England for Excellence Gold Award’ for best family resort and was voted the Best British Beach in the Mail On Sunday.

Stretching between Morte Point and Baggy Point, this three-mile long stretch of golden sand is renowned for its cleanliness, water quality and facilities. Lifeguards ensure safe family swimming during the summer and surfers come from all over the country to enjoy the great waves and clean water. Park in Woolacombe or along Marine Drive, which gives you access across the dunes to the quieter areas of the beach, away from the village.

Dogs are very welcome all year round on the beach – certain areas are dog free but there’s still plenty of open space for our canine friends.

The friendly relaxed atmosphere of Woolacombe village attracts visitors of all ages who find plenty to do away from the beach. There’s a chilled surfing vibe which you’re sure to enjoy with a range of shops selling groceries, gifts and clothing, plus a chemist, Post Office, newsagent, surf schools and surf hire.

When it comes to great pubs and restaurants, in Woolacombe you’re spoilt for choice. It’s a great destination for meals out or a relaxing sun-downer. The vibrant Red Barn overlooks the sea and is popular with surfers and locals, the Boardwalk restaurant offers relaxed dining, again with sea views, Roxy’s American Diner is fun and stylish and the Woolacombe Fryer is great for a traditional fish and chip supper.
